Regarding the decision to start the revolution by the Bolsheviks, that decision
was made by the central committee, not really after some democratic discussions
in the party ( Trotsky initially favored delaying the uprising until the
All-Russian Congress of Soviets)and pressure from the Soviets.  There was
pressure from some Soviets, but that does not mean that the central committee
of the Bolshevik party always properly responded to such pressure, as we know
that in the later stage of the revolution, the Soviets were ignored. So as I
recall  (maybe my memory is wrong. I read about this intensively when I was a
dedicated Leninist 50 years ago ) but after a lot of Lenin persuasions Lenin
succeeded in getting the support of the majority ( against reservation of
Kamenev, Zinoviev, Rykov and maybe Bukharin at beginning). D espite opposition,
Lenin’s resolute conviction and persuasive arguments, his belief in the
immediacy of the revolution and the opportune moment for seizing power
prevailed. Some are saying there would be no October Revolution if there was no
Lenin, especially his skills in arguing his case, which he demonstrated many
times.
