The founding nucleus of the RCIT came from the “/League for the Fifth
International/” (Workers Power in Britain) from which we were expelled
in 2011. I had been a leading member of this organization since 1989.
(Those who are interested in our history can read chapter 3 and 4 in my
book “Building the Revolutionary Party in Theory and Practice”,
https://www.thecommunists.net/theory/rcit-party-building/)
However, I want to stress that the overwhelming majority of the RCIT
members today does not come from this tradition but from various others.
While we consider historical questions not as unimportant, we don’t make
agreement on these a precondition on membership. We are rather building
an organisation united on a program for the world as it is today and the
consequential tasks for the class struggle.

Is there any evidence that the Hamas leadership ordered the systematic
abuse and murder of civilians? I haven't seen such. Hamas could be
properly be described as a terrorist organization when it organized
attacks on Israeli civilians during the second intifada. The suicide
bombings on buses, in restaurants, entrertainment venues and other
public places testified to the desperation felt by its young women and
male "martyrs" at the ongoing oppression of the Palestinians.
However, when Hamas replaced Fatah as the governing authority Gaza,
its tactics necessarily changed in accordance with its new role and it
acted more as a quasi-state/resistance movement with civic as well as
military responsibilities similar to Hezbollah. That's why ii's now
more widely respected as leader of the Palestinian resistance than
when it was a terrorist faction with it. To draw the distinction is
not to endorse its Islamist ideology and the reactionary trappings
which goes with it, which is what I believe Michael P. means when he
says he gives it military but not political support.
BTW, Michael P. or anyone: Is the RCIT a descendent of the Spartacist
League and International Bolshevik Tendency? Its preoccupation with,
and denuciation of, the other remaining "pseudo-left" Trotskyist
groupuscules seems to belong to that tradition.
