Hi Michael:

Certainly I would agree with the thrust of this note you wrote incorporating
Harry Cleaver's advice. All very sage. Sounds quite a calm and reasoned
approach. But  - as the winds rise, and the while the "thing takes root and
gets 'real'", all calmness goes out of the window. Forgive me - let me ask
again 'what is the organisational vehicle?' Michael - sorry to press, but I
think this needs some thought now.

Michael - you may have missed the query. I therefore have changed the explicit
title of the strand above.
Of course it is not only directed at you, it is directed at all of us - me
included.

Many here on the list, since the dreadful news - have offered cogitations.
Some have offered various analyses of how it (ie sweeping win of a rampant
republican party) happened; and some elements of what can be done to fight
back. Including this above note re Harry Cleaver. All sage advice. But it sort
of revolved around study of the past. Can agree with that, but we do already
know a fair bit about fascism and how it starts, and how it gets organised into
more than an electoral campaign. Into a mass party. Am I wrong on that?

And you Michael M & Mark L - write about including the setting up of refuge
states for women wishing medical interventions including abortion. Again -
absolutely right to support-assist-empower such women. How? In face of
increasingly closed ring of even State Supreme Courts? I read that Idaho on a
push by Republicans has made COVID vaccinations un-giveable (Not sure if there
is such a word - but we are not generally encouraged to be Shakesperian in
language these days!).

As the 'Trump penny' starts to drop home ('Ka-Ching!' in more than only in a
metaphorical sense) - people will realise that this is indeed real and this is
a major defeat for the class (Personally I think John R is quite correct->
https://oaklandsocialist.com/2024/11/06/u-s-voters-usher-in-full-fledged-authoritarianism-and-bigotry/
 ). But John is also - at least in my opinion - quite opaque as to how any
fight-back occurs. I assume that John does not rely on the good graces of the
labour aristocracy too much... Neither would many people here I think and hope.

So how does a fight-back actually get all done?
No doubt resistance will be offered as various sectors get chewed at and
enchained further:
- Blacks and Hispanics will come under an even increased hand, and most likely
openly violent suppressions will rise; there will be more manifestations of BLM;
- Immigrants whether legal or illegal - will be under a microscope and there
will be very ugly racist manifestations - no doubt there will be some
organisations that will spring up at local sites to in a 'local way' organise
in some fashion or other; some legal aids will be heavily and rightly involved
in trying to intervene;
- Workers at various factories will be forced to back their demands as cuts are
made;
-Gig workers will also resist;
-Various currents perhaps that can be loosely described as civil rights workers
and affiliates will come under attack and will resist.
Etc etc.
- There will be countless forseen, but even more un-forseen rivulets of
resistance.
I cannot think that they should *not* be collected into a torrent.
Anarchists will not agree. Tough.

A general suggestion. Not exactly a prescription for the pharmacist.. but..
Should we (the 'we'- to be defined way beyond this list obviously) not
collectively try to build - now - a United Front structure?
Or even - a broad party - perhaps along the De Leon lines, or something very
broad indeed?
(Clearly one that is not predicated on a blood oath to articles 5b-16a of
Trotsky 1930, or Mao's paper X - or anyone else's such stipulations).
There will be individual parties of course, including I am sure several of
variosu stripes called 'Marxist-Leninist'.

I do think it is really time to think big.
Of course we do need some more information to be concrete.
What is going on for eg - in the discussions inside the DSA? I am sure that
some elements are wanting to get out.
What is happening in the Bernie Sander followers who have been vigorously
suppressed within the DP (Useful insights at Ryan Grimer's 'dropout' site
yesterday).

There. I have said what was on my mind. Maybe a lot of crap.
But I'm personally long done with accepting an individualist resistant approach.

Be well, and we should remain optimistic but realistic. I just fielded some
requests for how to emigrate to the Sunny Climes of Canada. Last time I had
young medical residents knocking on my office doors in tears wanting jobs in
Canada. But - Pierre Polievere is making the *same* moves as Orange Man. Oh -
We also do need a general analysis: European Elections; France; Slovakia; we
had Italy & India already. This objectively a global wave.

Just some semi-random thoughts. Cheers H
