You’re one of the more sober observers on the list, Hari, but here I think, despite your cautions to Michael M.,you’ve fallen prone to the wishful thinking of others. Trump’s victory is more likely to have a demoralizing rather than energizing effect on DSA’ers and others on the DP left. I expect many will become apolitical and the remaining stalwarts will double down on the need to work within the party, perhaps even in a less public way. The US election in its usual contradictory fashion may have exposed the weakness of the Democratic party as a vehicle of change for some but it has also again reaffirmed for many that there is no political alternative to its left. Nor has there been one since the post WWII demise of the CPUSA.
