Jim, are you really that confused? If the Soviet government had no evidence and wanted a confession, its logical action would be to threaten execution, get the confession, then hand down a lesser sentence in order, among other things, to get more confessions from the others.
Since the Soviet government had a solid case, it proceeded to make the case and sentence for treason, etc. Douglas Enaa Greene has no evidence of his own, so he resorts to distortions of what Furr presented.
