Why that one case?  Why not, instead,

- the trial of the sixteen in 1936
- the trial of the seventeen in 1937 or
- the trial of the twenty one in 1938?

The entire extant generation of Russian revolutionary leadership gets wiped 
out. And what are we to believe?
