Charles’ laudatory reference is to Taylor Rehmet who he would presumably otherwise decry as another union bureaucrat ostensibly restraining the more militant impulses of the ranks. Rehmet is president of his IAM local and leads the union’s Texas state council. He was emphatically not elected by “Republican voters” but by those breaking with the Republican party as they become increasingly conscious which of the two parties better represents their immediate class interests.
