By this definition, there can be no anti-imperialist struggle against anything 
but "Western imperialism." But why would you see a "parallel" to Western 
imperialism: Ukraine was a colony of Russia. Putin is trying to return it to 
that status. Lenin and others discussed the Great Russian chauvinism that 
Ukrainians suffered in the Russian Empire. The right to national self 
determination (for some nations) was supposed to be the remedy. The 
Russian-Ukrainian war is a war by Ukrainians to preserve their right to self 
determination from a foreign power.

You must have heard the term "prison house of nations" or words to that effect. 
This term describes the relationship of Russia to Ukraine and the other 
imprisoned nations in the Russian Empire. Just because the Ukraine invader's 
enemy is the US, and not a more acceptable imperialist power, is no reason to 
condemn 40 million people to a re constructed Great Russian prison house of 
nations.
