Hi everyone, Some quick points:

(1) The proposal to subordinate the DSA to the No Kings coalition makes one
good point--but ignores the elephant in the room. No Kings is effectively
controlled by the Democratic Party. That is why speakers at the "No Kings"
events will not dare to mention the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

(2) We need a movement which is independent of the campist politics of PSL,
Code Pink, etc

(3) We also need a movement which is not under the thumb of the Democratic Party

(4) John Reimann notes that "The DSA international committee has been handed
exclusive power to issue statements on international issues". Everyone should
know this. Every fool who preaches that the DSA is a big tent organization
where each branch can do as it pleases--should be held accountable for this
nonsense.

(5) Reimann also notes: "I have posted a series of articles and comments on the
DSA internal discussion bulletin board". Good. Except that the DSA bulletin
board discussion is not public, to my knowledge. It needs to be public.
Otherwise--most people will continue to be kept in the dark concerning how the
DSA is controlled by opportunism. Is there a reason this bulletin board is not
public? Yes. The reason is to protect opportunism from exposure.

(6) Reimann also adds: "An open internal struggle against DSA's campist
approach in general and towards Iran in particular is necessary".

Yes. If by "open", John means "public", then absolutely, yes.

If the struggle against DSA's opportunism not public--then it is hard to see
how this struggle can be successful. The simple truth is that opportunism
thrives in darkness. The struggle against opportunism, on the other hand,
requires sunlight. It is as simple as that.

(7) Reimann also also says that groups such as DSA and No Kings should be
organized by democratically-run committees. I agree. However I am unable to
understand how No Kings could be forced to be run along democratic lines--since
it is under the thumb of the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party has no
intention of allowing it to be liberated. Am I missing something?

(8) Reimann also notes that DSA in his area is setup such that meetings have
few openings for democratic discussion and debate. This is another reason we
need digital forums that combine effective moderation with democratic
participation. There are no shortcuts to the need for this. Progressive
communities must learn how to use the weapon of transparency with skill and
determination.

(9) Finally--Reimann notes--again--an internal struggle within DSA is required.
Yes. But again--until this is public--opportunism will continue to win, and
pious wishes will go nowhere.
