That is a bit of an exaggeration, Stuart. We have now a rollout of the far more
complex driver-less taxis, still only approx. 4,000 of them, in cities around
the U.S. San Francisco, near where I live, has it seems hundreds of them
rolling around the City. There are over 1,000 driver-less trucks in Europe
right now.  So "it can be done". Almost all major European and some U.S. truck
manufacturers are pouring in a lot of R&D into this form of freight. Plans to
expand both driverless taxis and fright trucks are in the works. I'd be afraid,
very afraid.

Keep in mind that commercial ports are increasingly 100% automated now (not in
the U.S. however) with China leading away, all developed without, initially, AI
coordination (or early task specific versions of it).

[There will never be a successful "Mars colony" since the costs of establishing
one runs into the trillions of USD with almost no return though I suppose if
Musk wanted he could fund such a project. But the real reason boils down to one
word: gravity. Or, lack there of. Humans can't procreate without near Earth
gravity and all...ALL would die probably within 2 years as bodies would wither
terribly without full gravity.]
