/* HINT: Search archives @ http://www.indyramp.com/masq/ before posting! */ Just to start with. I've gone over the HOWTO's for PPP,DNS,IP Masquerading, IPCHAINS, Networking and gone over old postings that indyramp.com has in it's archives. Setting up the DNS caching server did not help the problem, but it did speed up the linux gateway machine. Two machines, Machine A is the linux machine which is acting as the gateway to the Internet using an ADSL modem and NIC. Machine B is a Junk98 machine connected to the linux machine. (A has two ethernet cards) Problem: The linux machine can perform ALL functions on the Internet, E-mail,ICQ,ftp,web-browsing,etc.. The win98 machine can use ICQ,RealAudio,FTP,Telnet,e-mail. HOWEVER the win98 machine can't browse the WWW and can't access the News server of my ISP, it can get message counts for the newsgroups but hangs on retrieving message bodies. I belive this is some sort of DNS problem, as when the win98 machine is accessing IP numbers of websites directly, (eg.209.185.108.220 -> google.com, de 199.105.102.123->happypuppy.com Everything is configured in simple configuration from IP-MASQ and IPCHAINS HOWTO's, and well as the DNS howto.. (for example, my ipchains are just input accept all, output accept all.. forward deny all EXCEPT MASQ the lan to the outside world. (but then again Real audio and ICQ wouldn't work if the masquerading wasn't working) Any ideas?? I've spent wayyyy to much time trying to figure this out and I've come to the conclusion that it's something small probably. I'm also using PPPOE, the thing to use when your IP for ADSL is a buttwipe and is not using DHCP to give out the IP addresses.. But I don't think this is the problem either. _______________________________________________ Masq maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Admin requests can be handled at http://www.indyramp.com/masq-list/ -- THIS INCLUDES UNSUBSCRIBING! or email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] PLEASE read the HOWTO and search the archives before posting.
