For a new world Mac 8.2 is worth a look, for old world machines 8.2 could be a bit of a bugbear to get installed, I prefer it to YDL but not by much, YDL is easier for most people to get running. The 9.1 mac port, 1 mac release for every 2 pc versions, should be a more refined and easier to install version. Including all the new stuff thats fiddly to get working with 8.2, KDE3 for example. I think you can install onto 250mb, Mandrakes installer is pretty helpful when doing a custom install, I think the "experienced" option gives you the option of server, desktop or developer. Might be wrong on the mac port though. The package selection screen takes a very long time to work through if you wish to only install your selected packages. It only works with pci-macs which sadly rules out the quadra 605. cheers -- MaX-list is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> MaX-list info: <http://lowendmac.com/linux/max.shtml> Send list messages to: <mailto:max-list@;mail.maclaunch.com> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:max-list-off@;mail.maclaunch.com> For digest mode, email: <mailto:max-list-digest@;mail.maclaunch.com> Subscription questions: <mailto:listmom@;lowendmac.com> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/max-list%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
