I've stopped using my G3/266 Wallstreet as my daily rig, and I want to
install a free *NIX on it. I'm just not sure which flavor I want to use. It
looks like this machine requires BootX and a Mac OS partition to boot Linux,
but that totally ruins my plan -- I didn't particularly want to keep Mac OS
around, but if I do, hey, I might as well keep Photoshop and BBEdit around.
But the limiting factor? I only have 4 gigs to work with and no budgetary
plans to upgrade the drive.

So that brings me to my question ... is there a free *NIX that I can run
that doesn't require a Mac OS partition and supports all of the hardware in
this model? I use NetBSD/68k on a few machines at home and the Open-Firmware
stuff in NetBSD/PPC didn't scare me too bad when I read it over ... is there
anyone on this list using NetBSD/PPC on a PowerBook who wouldn't mind
discussing their rig? It looks like NetBSD/PPC might fit my needs (besides
the experimental audio support, which I haven't really looked into just
yet).
