At the command line, after logging in with text mode, type switchdesk gnome Or, if you use the problematic GUI login, you will likely want to change the runlevel from 5 to 3 in /etc/inittab at the line towards the bottom: id:5:initdefault: It's not KDE that is the problem, it's the GUI login that is screwed up, disabling the mouse. Use the right mouse button (or the F12 key for single-button mice) to invoke the popup menu on the desktop, choosing "Run Command" and "Options" to be able to, as root, edit /etc/inittab with kedit, for example--navigating with the keyboard. Hope this helps, and that I understand your problem correctly-- Ken -- MaX-list is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> MaX-list info: <http://lowendmac.com/linux/max.shtml> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/max-list%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
