IMHO, the GatorBox is the best for everything above.

The GatorBox understands LPR/LPD and will translate it to PAP. I used
one to print from a Q610 running NetBSD (Ethernet only) to a
LaserWriter Select 360 (Localtalk only). Until the Q610 died, that
is. A GatorBox will also do translation between AFP and NFS.

The down side is that Gatorboxes aren't very common anymore. The
upside is that when you do find one you'll rarely have to pay more
than $20 for it.

I tried the NFS => AFP thing, it was s l o w on on our GatorBox.
Didn't know about the LPR/LPD => PAP feature, I never had a need to print from our Suns to a LaserWriter, and the Alias files from our SGI needed color changes to print well anyway.


I might still have ours in a closet somewhere, the power supply in it went bad.
Ah the days of SunOS 4.x, MacOS 6.0.8 and Xpress 2.1.
