Hello,

sorry for the cross-post, but this is a question which could have an
answer from both lists.

I have written a software, called Neuronvisio [1], which is using
Mayavi for the 3D visualization. The development started quite a while
ago and the latest released version still use Mayavi 3.6.0.

The development version has been ported to the latest Mayavi stack
(4.1.0), however I've encountered two regression issues ([2] and [3])
which don't permit to release a new version depending on the new
dependencies. I've tried to have a look myself, but I've got stuck.
Maybe some of you have a better understanding how to fix them.

It has to be noted that this bug don't affect only my program, but
actually the affect the example shown in the doc. I've reported that
on the issues discussion.

Now I've got two questions:

1) I know that is possible installing it from ubuntu repository for
example, however I was wondering if it was possible to install series
3.6 (with all the deps) using pip, for people that don't have root
access

2) If you guys have time to fix the bugs, I'm happy to release the new
version of my software and require as dependencies the new mayavi
stack, series 4.1.x
