Hi Michele, As I mentionned earlier, I do not think that the problems that you are having are related to an updated version of Mayavi, but rather updated versions of PyQt and VTK. Thus installing an older version of Mayavi with the same version of VTK and PyQt will not help. It would actually be helpful if you could confirm or infirm this hypothesis. The bugs would be easier to solve if they where due to changes in Mayavi.
With regards to your question, of course it is possible to install older versions of Mayavi. All the tarballs are available on pypi. You can install them for instance using pip.
