Hi Arno The main difference with the image annotation tool in Magic Studio (cf. Flickr) is that you can annotate images not only with text, but also other images, audio and video. If you are interested in using Magic Studio, there are a few options open to you:
1. As an individual user - access is free and we'll be releasing a new version (v3) in mid-June. In the meantime, you can register and use v2 at http://www.magicstudiostart.co.uk/. 2. As an institutional user - this is also free through our 'Gateway' service. This enables you to set up your own 'content channel' for other Magic Studio users to access (individuals, schools, etc) as well as providing access to all the tools, including the image annotator. 3. As a specific development project e.g. embedding the tools themselves into your web site. The methodology for doing this would very much depend on your own requirements. Although not open source per se, we are doing a lot of work to open up Magic Studio through content API's to other services such as Flickr, Picasa, YouTube and platform API's to, for example, VLE's in the education sector. Any of the 'interactives' created in Magic Studio can be published anywhere on the web using the YouTube embedded/syndication model. Happy to discuss off-list if you require further information!
