That is a good feature.  I suspect that they are doing a little time
lapse to avoid clipping the beginning of the speech in synchro start
mode.

I guess it was designed to record a lecture and then play it back at
fast speed.  I would rather have it record something and then allow me
to play it back at a slower speed, not a faster speed.  (Come on Sharp
and Sony,  give us some options here. )

It would be nice if Sony would come out of the dark ages and modernize
the portable recorder so you didn't have to worry about that all the
time.  Every once in a while I accidentally push the record button and
mess up a recording because of  that.  I got to start using the little
write protect sliders.  except I don't  remember to do that until I mess
one up.
