This is a first I think, but I'm gonna hand out a big big thankyou and a
thousand kudos to the "Rat". You are of course right, every version of
win9x runs on a DOS 7.x core. And time spent optimising the DOS core
really can boost Win9x performance.
So I spend literally hours faffing with buffers, fcbs (outdated I know, pls
dont laugh), files, lastdrive and every other thing you might specify in your
CONFIG.SYS hey Jim, if you're running Win9x, have a look at your root
C:\ directory and see whats in the CONFIG.SYS. And don't be suprised
if you see HIMEM.SYS and EMM386.EXE among a lot of other stuff left
over from DOS.
Cheers,
PrinceGaz -> Really really enjoying my new PC, no sudden fatal lock-ups,
lightning performance, it didn't stop Now when typing this :-)
