Yup, simple but far from perfect. I would have HIMEM and EMM386 first,
unless theres a dual boot thingy for something like Linux. I would then
specify inclusions and exclusions for EMM386, specify DOS=HIGH,UMB
to enable Upper Memory Area, then load everything else with DEVICEHIGH
in the CONFIG, or with LH (same as LOADHIGH) in the AUTOEXEC.
Always bearing in mind the amount of free upper memory, specify BUFFERS,
FCBS, FILES, STACKS, LASTDRIVE. Then spend many many hours
changing the order you load the drivers, specify the UM Area to load it in
to optimise usage, etc.
By now you should have loads of details about how much everything is
taking, you should also be on the verge of a nervous breakdown having had
your PC lock-up numerous times when you pushed just a little to much into
Upper Memory! Oh, you will also qualify for the title of "Super Geek!" And
when you finally get everything right, your PC will be a touch faster and have
loads more free Conventional / Base 640K Memory. Your DOS mode progs
will certainly benefit. If you "Restart in DOS mode", you should aim to have
621K / 635,000bytes free- which I bet is a helluva lot more than most peeps
have.

Motherboard was dodgy I think. Definitely a hardware problem- I swapped
the HD into my new machine and after a "few" setup changes, and a "few"
more, everything is fine. Of course I can't be sure until it fails [Gaz begs
his PC pls not to fail].

Oh yeah, shouldn't we be talking about minidiscs? or at least digital sound-
cards :-)
Cheers,
PrinceGaz -> Pls don't complain about OT content-- it was in the Subject
and at the top of the email Content !
