We currently run a copy of our MPI file and store it on a server so that
anyone who would need to locate a MRN would have access to it (i.e., MR
personnel, registration personnel).  If the network is down, we can also
burn that to a CD for access.  Printing on paper is a thing of the past
for us (thank goodness!).

We are also in the middle of reviewing our MR downtime procedures to
redefine our MR processes.  I'd love to hear what other sites are doing
as well.

Hi Everyone,

We are a Client Server, 5.5 SR2 facility, and I would like to know what
downtime plans facilities have in place for their Health Records
Department. Specifically, I would like to know how your Health Records
staff find charts during Meditech downtime. For example, do you have a
stand alone record locator database, or do you provide a printout of the
Master Patient Index? Or do you have other processes in place?
