We are in the testing stages of BMV, w/ plans to go LIVE in fall. Right now what we're thinking about is having the barcode holding the patient identification on the outside of the door where the patient's name is. All scanning of meds would occur outside the room, including scanning the barcode w/ the patient identifier. Then the nurse will do the 'manual' check we are currently doing now w/ paper MAR's asking the patient to state their name and DOB before s/he gives the patient the medications. I'd sure be open to other ideas.
