Will Meego support bootchart2
(http://github.com/mmeeks/bootchart) as part of the release, or will
it be the existing Moblin bootchart ? (bootchart-0.9-24.1)
Good question; I should get that packaged.
The only problem is that bootchart2 really works best when we have
taskstats support enabled in the kernel. Traditionally Moblin kernels
turned that off (which is rather a shame) - I assume just because it is
good to turn things off that are not used, rather than any real
performance concern.
If we can get CONFIG_TASKSTATS=y turned on for MeeGo, I'm happy to
package& maintain the bootchart2 package - which is prettier of course.
We're currently planning to ship the new bootchart I originally wrote
(sorry Michael :)) for Moblin.
With all the moving around going on here I haven't had the time to
publish the code on a git repo yet, but we'll do that as soon as a meego
git repo is running.
ok, fixed that:
I posted bootchart (as we're currently using) on gitorious:
http://gitorious.org/bootchart
This version combines several concepts that previous incantations had,
and writes out an SVG file that has more in-detail information than just
a graph, but not as much as a raw dump file. There's also no
post-processing stage: It's a single process logging, then graphing the
data. Output is logged at 20Hz, but it can potentially log at 100Hz on
an atom processor, so it's reasonably low-overhead.
comments, patches, all welcome.
