Actually I have more failure experience to burn OS image to usb disk under
Windows:) Probably auto-mount is one root cause of it. And sometime, you may
need to format your usb disk firstly to ensure the image is bootable, not sure
why.

Under Linux, you could get device node of your usb disk using:
$ fdisk Cl

And then use dd directly (be careful, use correct device node):
$ dd if=<your image name> of=<your usb disk device node>

Even better. I wrote to the USB disk using the Windows utility. I could not
make the linux mic-image-writer utility work since my USB drive was not
/dev/sdb and I could not configure the utility to use any other device (any
pointers here?)

Have you umount your usb disk before dd image to it? I met the boot issue
before if dd image to usb disk without umount it.

Perhaps I should try on another machine, but I tried booting Default Meego Atom
Netbook image on my Nokia Booklet 3G and that booted to shell, the one I
created (USB image) did not boot on the same device. It complained that there
is no bootable image found. I also built a CD image with the same package
configuration and that booted fine on the same netbook. So, I am guessing it
may be a USB image creation issue rather than a processor specific one.

I think I mentioned that I am using Ubuntu 10.04 i386 to create the images.

Thanks,
Adhyas

What’s the specific processor type?

And can you please give detailed info on ‘not working’ like the output of
screen, box type?

I see the same problem. Live CD worked for me but Live USB did not. Perhaps I
should file a bug or something?
Also, while building the image using mic-image-creator it said that the package
Core was not found. I deleted the ...@core” line from the .ks file and then it
worked fine. Any ideas what I was doing wrong to have to do that? I am using
Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop i386
