That default image was created by those same tools you are using.

> BIOS claims this is not a boot device
One note: this error happened often on wrong device node name when you dd image
to your stick, check if you are using '/dev/sdx1' when you 'dd' it, please use
'/dev/sdx' instead.

If you still see this issue, you are welcome to file a bug in
bugzilla.meego.com (Development Tools -> component: MIC).

Subject: RE: [MeeGo-dev] LIVE USB not working

I still think this is a bug. I did some more experiment to verify my statement.
I used the same USB stick and wrote the standard Atom netbook image from
meego.com (using Windows) and that worked fine. I wrote the USB image I have
created myself on my Ubuntu box (vanilla image, no packages added etc.) and
burnt it on the same USB disk using dd/mic-image-writer and that failed to boot
(BIOS claims this is not a boot device). I can still use the same USB stick to
boot to the Atom standard netbook image which means that the stick is alright.

I would still try to claim that this is a bug in the way we are creating our
USB images. CD images work fine. Maybe I can file a bug. If there is any other
testing you think I can do before filing a bug, let me know.

Thanks,
Adhyas

Another thing to keep in mind is that USB sticks go bad. I have at least
a dozen that have died on me in the past year or so - and not being able
to boot is usually one of the symptoms. They appear to write correctly
under Linux, but then simply don't work. So have you tried a different
USB stick?
