Hi, Some freedesktop.org specs are de facto standards (essentially, documentation of practice to allow interoperability) - this is the case for .desktop files, mime type handling and XDND, for example - and others are aspirational, or document one particular implementation, and shouldn't be considered standards. In fact, right at the top, the page you point to says: "These are not really standards Note: freedesktop.org is not a standards body."
And that isn't hyperbolae, they really aren't, and it really isn't. So whether MeeGo implements one spec or another off fdo will depend, although it's entirely possible that some of the specs will be compatible with MeeGo because of the way it builds on existing code.
