Thanks for that.  I will put some grease in it and see if that helps.  It is an auto to manual conversion so there was no old one to remove.

    Have you tried putting  a bit of grease in the crank to help it slide
    in? Also put a bit of a chamfer around the corner going in first.

    Did you get the old one out ok?
