I have stripped
the insides, glazing, dash etc, and the body is ready to have a full
clean/respray. We have cut rust, repaired major defects (except rear lower
qtrs which are on the way from perth), and need to send the body in to get light
rust removed, final repairs / priming and respray.
My
question?
I am desparate to
take the shell to someone that has been recommended as having done a good
job. I am keen to ensure that the detail areas like channels are properly
cleaned of surface rust and body pre-prep perfect prior to painting
etc.
Anybody got any
recommendations?
Secondly - we
have a donor car (our original - driveable - mechanically perfect car), that
will provide engine, gearbox, steering, suspension etc. I need a
reliable NORTHSIDE of Brisbane, mechanical shop to remove engine from new car,
remove and fit donor equipment - and get restarted. (I have very good
sparky lined up for the electricals).
For those ratio
minded people - if I leave existing diff in new car and fit engine gearbox from
original, amd I likely to have ratio problems? The new car had 5 spd, and
was a '71. The engine/gbox going in, are from a '69 and 4 speed.
(Why? because they are known as perfect - and I will havethe other pair
checked and overhauled while out - for future use :-))
any and all
assistance / advice happily recvd.
Thanks
Michael
