Why would you not expect to be answered here? I don't understand.

The reference is to the Bluebird Email List which you can find at the 510 Again, The National Datsun 510 Club which is the USA Bluebird 510 site and you can get the link from the Ozdat Online Web Site http://www.datascribe.com.au/ozdatonline/Links.htm or direct from here: http://www.510again.com

Zac,
With 15" wheels and the most commonly used tyres which is 195/50
series the overall gearing is lowered (better accel) by about the
same amount (4-5%) as using an extra tooth on the ring gear; I'll
explain with an example - say you have a 3.7 with 195/60x14 and
then you fit 195/50x15, the overall gearing is the same as going
from a 3.7 to a 3.9 and sticking with 14's. The size in the 15s
that's all but the same gearing as the 14s is 195/55x15 but these
are hardum obtanium so it seems, 205/50x15 are guard and
suspension rubbers. This is why i don't like 15s much and i know
you've read all the techobable on the 'other list' as to why 14s
are sweet on a 510 and why most of the racers use that size. In
Aus we prefer good brakes over a must have tyre size so i learn to
live with non-optimum gearing as long as the bugga stops good. (:-

anyhow i digressed a little
