David Use L18 head as its a better head. the reason you use no 3 cam gear hole is to take up any slack in timing chain they are set at #2 at factory or when you putin new chain, try advancing your timing do it a bit at a time 5 degrees or less each time you'll know when youre gone too far as engine will ping this will help take offs.BTW dont use L18 carby as this will screw your consumption Peter David Costello wrote:  Peter,        I've got an "A" cam and about to put it in my L16 to give it a little bit more bite. I'm not gunna spend big bucks on it. Big bucks on an L16 would be a waste of time.
