Malcolm,
Heather and I travelled through NZ on our honeymoon in 75 and the one thing I noticed 
was how expensive
the cars were. A 6 cylinder Holden HJ Kingswood was around $10 grand but they would 
have been around $5
here at the same time. I don't think Aussies would have paid the sort of prices for 
imported Japanese
cars that Kiwis did at the time, a 610 GX was around $4200. Another thing we noticed 
was that the cars
in NZ were very old but generally well kept in comparison to Aus, Heather had an 
immaculate 1960
Sunbeam Rapier which was fairly rare here, but to our surprise they were everywhere in 
NZ and lots of
other British classics as well.
