Yep, I just bought Engine + 5sp + computer from National Truck Spares in
Arncliffe for $1695 pre-GST. I dunno what they're worth now, but I was
getting quotes all over Sydney for anywhere between $2150 for Engine only to
$2800 for the package. I think I got a reasonable deal.
I have just found some wiring diagrams for the computer because the bloody
loom was cut, but give me about 3 hours with a pack of spade terminals and
some gaffa and I'll have the poota hooked up in no time. :)
I ended up getting their number from a another engine place, coz apparently
this truck place imports container loads of Jap engines, front cuts & stuff
and there just happened to be a SR20 available so I grabbed it to stick in
my 120Y. :) That should be fun driving around on 2 wheels...
I was told by a number of places that there was no wholesale sales tax on
"Second Hand" imported parts, but there waas going to be GST after 1st July.
Hmm, anyhow, I got this baby now, I just gotta stick it in my car and make
it go!!!

Shit, you could probably get a SR20 Silvia for $5k... not that I mean you
should, but the markup on imported parts in incredible...
I understood that parts should have gone down because they only attracted a
22% sales (and not the import duty of low vol imports) so they should be
maybe 5-10% cheaper in theory.
Anyone know differently? this is going from old memory..
