Rob,
Sound like to me you are making a easy job hard.
This is how we do this in Darwin...
I run a 1200 couple with a L18 as a club/road car.
This is what I done.
1. The diff is a cut down BW froma falcon with a 4.11 LSD center. Very cheap to do and heaps of different ratios to choose from. I did have a 1200 ute diff but after too many broken axles at the drags and black top racing, the ford diff has fixed this.
2. I fitted Ford XC front camber bolts to my cross member, fitted adjustable strut tops and put more thread on the caster rods. Now the front end in fully adjustable.
My car spec are:
L18 with webers - std bottom end but with flat top pistons
Home ported head
Datrally intake with more home porting
SSS Automotive cam
Cross flow falcon radiator
Home made lighten flywheel
Solid clutch
Skyline 5 speed
Ford diff
240k front struts
11" VL ventelated front brakes
180B rear DRUMS !
front springs are std 200b with a bit cut out
rear are home made
8 pt cage and seats etc...
weight ready to race 1010kg with fuel
1/4 mile in 15.2 sec
clocked by radar (on the race track) at 198k/h
Was featured in FF&R a few years ago
The car was bulit in 1994 and the engine has not been apart yet but is now beening swapped for a SR20 (without a turbo to stay in the under 2LT class).
All road legal and regoed too
Well thats my 20 cents worth

Subject: LSD diffs & camber for 200B struts
Date: Friday, August 04, 2000 12:44
I have 2 issues to deal with in order finish my project.
1st - choosing an appropriate limited slip diff.
2nd - Working out how to get the camber right with 200B struts.
I have a 120Y 4-door, soon to be converted to 2-door, with a
heavily worked CA18DE motor.
First issue is choosing a LSD for it. For now i am going for a Nissan
Vanette (or C20) limited slip diff; I'll have to shorten it unless i use
the Datsun Roadstar Ute diff carrier/housing and put the LSD case from the
Vanette into the Ute diff carrier.
Have i got any other options on the LSD drama, as i would prefer taller
final gear ratios; at present i would be stuck with 4.1:1, and I really
want more top end speed.
Second issue is the 200B struts that i have sucessfully put on to my car.
They will do the business, as long as i can measure or work out how to
adjust up the camber. As they are the camber is wrong.
Any help appreciated,
Cheers Rob.
