Sonja,

Been thru that drama with Brad's untill we ditched
them for twin 45's... chuckle ... Seriously though I
know that will not help you.

OK where to start, the carb's themselves are quite a
good. But your problem could be any number of things.
Have you looked at the basics, eg. throttle not
sticking ??? Choke cable sliding easily, when the
choke is pushed in all the way does the choke comes
off completly ?? Are the lower fuel hoses old, too
short or inflexible (this can cause the problem you
are relating to)

>From my experience I found that if the piston when
raised ( engine switched off )does not slide/drop with
a solid "thunk" it will cause the problen you have.
That is generally caused by a sticking or misaligned
needle.

There are a number of web sites that contain a wealth
of information and may be of some assistance. Here are
some of them; (the last one is good)

http://www.cygnus.uwa.edu.au/~jaycole/jaw/120y/hitachis.html

http://www.los-gatos.ca.us/davidbu/carbs.html

http://www.mgb.bc.ca/service/su-tune.html

http://www.jetlink.net/~okayfine/su/HitachiSU.pdf

If you are still having probs, drop over sometime and
I will take a look, cant promise to fix them, but will
have a go.

Regards

Bruce
