Mick,
When they were introduced here they were locally assembled and a $1000
dearer than the GL and they had the L18 twin SU engine, 4 spd and a tacho
dash and std 3.7 R160.
In ~5/75 when the horizontal grill 180B was released the SSS got a dogleg 5
speed long box, dropped twin su for a single carb 8.5:1 engine (in 76 to
pass ADR27a) and 14" wheels with a 4.1 R160, fabric seats and these were
only $600 dearer than the GL. They were $100 cheaper than a wagon (today's
useless bit of trivia). The SSS and Wagons were far better quality built
cars than the sedan right throughout the 180B reign of terror and they had
all Japanese components except for the 14" wheels which were ROH.
