Terry,
I recently wired a set of rally lights up and had to work out what wire
length/diameter, alternator, fuses that were required.
I would think most rally cars run 6 100W lights. 100W outers and 4 X
rally lights. 6 x 100W = 600W.
600W/12V = 50AMP
if you add the 12 amps you said for for accessories you get 62A. You
then want an 80AMP in that case for about 75% duty. Another thing to
consider is the amount of drag the alternator causes on the engine
resulting in lost power to the wheels. Depending on where an alternator
is at its peak efficiency you may be better off with a bigger more
efficient one.
