Ben,

A mate in Canberra has Series 1 Bluebird 910 that's been fitted a fully
engineered Z18ET and he got this stunt pulled on him by the engineer as this
dude thought he new his Nissans and he also thought he'd give us something
to remember him by (like a bit of grief as well as $750). I'm sure these
guys make their own rules up as they go along and the brake rule that some
of them seem to use these days goes like this -

"if a turbo engine is offered by the manufacturer in a Japanese model and
not an Australian model then you must upgrade the Australian car to have at
least the same type of brakes as the import"

Fairly easy to do in the Bluebird as this gives you two choices with the
Z18t, the Japanese S11 (Gazelle) had ventilated fronts and rear drums but
the Japanese Bluebird 910t had solid discs all round just like our S2 & S3
TRX. As we had the Gazelle front cut we said we would go better than that,
we bolted on the Gazelle ventilated front discs also bolted on TRX rear
discs as well but the Aussie Bluebird drums were enough to pass.

This Bluebird stops real well - not as good as my 1600 mind but it's not
bad, very acceptable street brakes.

BTW I'm not a 910 expert by any means - What series did the TRX come in (All
3?, only S2 & S3?) and did they all have rear discs? Some LX had rear
discs - are these the same as TRX? The DBA catalogue says yes.

If an engineer wants to apply this line a thinking to a 1600 conversion like
is the go in Sydney with some engineers lately, you can either go with it or
use the engineer that Wardy had for the FJ20t ( read a tad more hp) - he was
strict to the safety standards he set but somewhat realistic as well and
didn't cost a fortune.

Terry
