I am a Detective, and have been for too long. Therefore I know bugger all
about traffic matters and NSW legislation. However I would send an
affidavit to the local Superintendant explaining your reasons etc and asking
for consideration to be made on waiving the fine. Given the paltry nature
of the offence it may get pulled.
Don't go to hearing because you probably won't win and it will only cost you
more $$$ for court costs. As hard as these things are to swallow at times,
it is sometimes better to take it on the chin.

Subject: a question for the cops
Gday
I no a few blokes on the list are coppers, well this is my story and can you
please give me your advice:
On monday night i went to the fatboy slim concert at UNSW and on the way
back
at 2.30am i was going along victoria road across the gladesville bridge and
i
went over the top of the bridge and on the other side they had a rbt unit
where
they were pulling cars over. I was pulled over and did the test and i had 2
beers in 5 hours so i passed the test, then he asked me for my license which
i
didnt have. I left my wallet at home because i thoguht that there was a high
chance of having it stolen or lost at the concert. But i took my proof of
age
card cause it was a over 18's only. So he asked me if i had any other id so
i
gave him my proof of age card. So he took it then went back to car where i
assume he checked with base to see if i had a license, which i do, and to
see
if my car was regestered, which it is. So after about 5 minutes he came back
to
me and asked for my address, whcih i gave to him then he said he was issuing
me
with a fine of $69 for not having my license on me. Thats it. Im fuckin
pissed
off for a few reasons- i wasnt drink driving, wasnt speeding, wasnt driving
like a fangio, i wasnt a smart arse to the cop, i have never had a ticket
for
anything ever before and my car was registered and insured. Yet he still
gave
me the fine for a small offence that was my first run in with the law. And
about 10 years ago i was in the back of my family car when we were coming
back
from a restarant when dad got pulled over, he passed the breath test, then
the
cop asked him for his license which he left at home, but the cop said ok
dont
woory just remember it next time. And in the last year my mate was pulled
over
for doing 112 in a 70 zone and the cop let him off with a verbal warning. And
that rich poofter Mr Faber castell was clocked at 203 in a 110 zone and got
off
with paying the $56 court costs and going to some piss weak education
course.
He didnt get license suspended or fined or community service. Well the
bottom
line is i am a uni student who is poor and i dont want to pay the fine and i
honestly beelive that i have been harshly done by, especially when you
consider
the mitigating circumstances. How do i go about protesting the fine and what
chance do i have of getting off. Im not a happy chappy.
Pele.
