Barbara,
Yeah have a look down the carby and give the throttle a few twists...you
should see fuel squirting out as you twist it...if not then overhaul your
carby...maybe get someone to do it...
the carby has to pump fuel when you open the throttle otherwise there's lots
of air and not enough fuel...and no power...so no RPM gains
Also I'm not too sure on your sitting at lights problem...if it splutters
after sitting maybe it's vapor locked...fuel in the bowl is boiling...the L
series manifolds get hot DAMN hot...and I'm told the purpose of the water
jacket in the manifold is to warm it initially, and then to keep the
temperature down when it warms up to stop it from getting vaporlock...do you
run coolant or water or worse yet *shock* creek water as I've seen performed
in Commonwhores...
if you have only water in it for extended periods chances are your water
jacket pipes for the manifold are blocked...there's a pipe coming out the
top of the manifold next to the carby that connects to the base of the
engine through hoses...the water pump sucks water through the top of the
motor thrrough the manifold...that might be it...
Radiator flush, then coolant should fix it...it fixed my 200B.
