Mark,
In my opinion the block is U/S. Talk to your machinist, but these repairs
always end in tears at a crucial time when the engine is stressed.
Get another block, hot tank it and check for cracks thoroughly before
machining.

Subject: CRACKS IN L20B BLOCK
hi , hace just spent 300$ machining my block, and just found 3 small cracks
in the deck of the block.
i think they are on the left side of the block (if i can remember corre
ctly) and there is a head bolt thread and 2 small water jacket holes,
about 10 -15 mm from the thread , the cracks go from the water holes to the
head bolt thread , and the other is from another head bolt thread to one
water hole.
i was told this is a common problem.
would this be okay to use as is?
can it be fixed?
couold i fix it my self? i realize i wpould have to get the deck
resurfaced again.
any help would be appreciated...
