cool, i was thinking along those lines possibly a step further using
the front section off a z24 head ( the section where the timing chain
runs in ) on cutting of the l20b one and welding the z24 in
replacement but it seems like a lot of mucking around and possible
big $$$$ any further suggestions?

also tig welding, how commonly used is it on cylinder heads? Cause I
know a real good head recon person but i think he uses mig equipment
for welding
