James,

The Nissan factory redline of most L engines is around 7000 rpm but the
stock L20B sounds like it's going to explode when taken over 6000 but they
very rarely do.

regards
Terry

Subject: Redline for L20B

Hello list,

Can somone tell me the redline for a unmodified L20B? I am asking because
according to the manual it doesn't recomend going over certain speeds in
each gear so I've been going by that, just today I got a taco for the car
was supprised to find that this supposed limit was only 5000rpm. Anyhow I
have a 74deg cam, twin sus, extractors and free exhaust, the cam is rated
from 3000-6000 rpm and someone told me that you should shift 500rpm after
the cam runs out (eg at 6500) but is this safe with a stock motor? Well
what's the redline for a stock motor basicly.

Thanks,

James Cox
