This has been a budget build and it still cost a fortune!
I bought an L20 with an EFI manifold for $1000.
It had just been rebuilt, balanced and set up for the turbo with a deco'd
head etc.
I deco'd it a little further with a 2mm copper head gasket $100.
The turbo I swapped for a few bits to a mate.
It's a T3/4 hybrid. The turbo manifold cost me $400 and a 3" dump pipe cost
me $200. I already had a 2.5 inch mendrel bent exhaust so that'll have to
do. I got a little intercooler off Scott. (Thanks Scott)
I used a BOV off some import toyota. Sounds great!
Then the expensive stuff.... Microtech MT8 with handset. $1100
All the sensors cost a fortune. Wiring the ignition ended up being the
hardest bit. And no-one knew what they were talking about. If you want
something done properly, do it yourself.
I got my bluebird dizzy locked for $50. And the boost guage cost me $100.
Now I just got to upgrade my cam, intercooler and maybe blow-off valve in
the quest for 300 hp! I should get it easy. But we'll see.
Before anyone says it.... I know I could have bought an SR20DET cheaper and
installed it for the money I've spent. But I like to be a little different.
And I'd never seen a turbo EFI L20. So I don't care how much it cost me.
