The earlier model Volvo's ran external high
pressure Bosch pumps. (similar in size and shape to the commie pump) Not
sure which model numbers exactly (don't take much notice of volvo stuff) but you
will find them on the the four cylinder mechanical fuel injected
models.

Sorry Andrew, I didn't mean that I don't want a
VL turbo pump I was just wondering what else can be used. I think my
chances of finding a wrecked VL turbo with the pump still on it is
buckly's, that's why I asked.

Vl turbo pumps are great I had one with 300+hp no
problems
