Shane, With the 9.5:1 L18SSS you should average around 28mpg 10 L/100 k's or better, around 225-250 miles on 8-9 gallons or 35-40 litres where most 1600 fuel gauges will show Empty. A lot of variables will affect fuel consumption, things like weight, head winds, hilly terrain, 5 speed tranny, diff ratio and of course speed. Last trip to Sydney on the Hume I got 33 mpg down, filled the car up with bits and came home much slower with a head wind and got 25 mpg. A 1600 has a coefficient of a boat so the wind factor I would say was the main culprit.
