With the 9.5:1 L18SSS you should average around 28mpg 10 L/100 k's or
better, around 225-250 miles on 8-9 gallons or 35-40 litres where most 1600
fuel gauges will show Empty. A lot of variables will affect fuel
consumption, things like weight, head winds, hilly terrain, 5 speed tranny,
diff ratio and of course speed. Last trip to Sydney on the Hume I got 33 mpg
down, filled the car up with bits and came home much slower with a head wind
and got 25 mpg. A 1600 has a coefficient of a boat so the wind factor I
would say was the main culprit.

hey, does anyone no the ruff fuel consumption for a L18 sss engine, its got
the twin su's standard exhaust (for now), port matched, and is in a 1600. im
just woundering this because im planning a big road trip and i think its
using more than it should.
