The choke was probably removed because the little clips that hold the
connecting rod in place broke or when flying out as they take some good fine
motor skills to get back in place and I think from memory you have to remove
the choke rod to get the top off - to change jets etc. They are a bit tricky
to connect up and if you lose the clips the choke flaps will close all the
way and stay there.

It would help if I actually had a choke! The guy who had the car before
me took it out for one reason or another... Now I have to do the revving
sort of method... Pain in the behind, and wastes a bit of fuel too.
