Title: RE: V-6 or 4cyl?

Torque is directly related to how much air you can get into and out of your motor.  So at the same revs a larger motor should produce more torque.  But because of the inertia of air, the cylinders don't always get full of air after the intake stroke.  So the displacement and the efficiency at the revs determine the torque.  I think this means that the number of cylinders makes no difference to the displacement, but the efficiency is different for different bore and stroke combinations.

That probably doesn't answer your question.
IMHO a 2.4L v6 would make more torque than a 4cyl at the same revs, eg. 3500prm.  But a 1.6L v6 would make less torque than a 4cyl at the same revs, eg. 3500rpm.

    Hey All,

Does anyone know whether it is the number of cylinders or the capacity of an
    engine that determines it's torque?

    That is would a 2l V6 have more torque that a 2l 4 cyl??
