Guys,

I think we all have to agree that after what everyone has mentioned... that we can settle on the following:

(1) The FJ20 is a basic brute horsepower motor. Anyone who wants to make some serious horsepower by adding a big turbo and a set of forged pistons... stick this motor into any car and you'll be rocketing away. This motor, is not for people who are concerned about motor weight, smoothness, petrol consumption or noise, but merely people who want bang for buck for a pretty much stock motor.

(2) The SR20 is a smooth, technologically advanced motor with potential (if someone knows what they're doing) to create some serious horsepower aswell. It's the kind of motor you'd put into a car that you want to drive every day, and keep the reliability and smoothness of a pretty much stock factory motor. I think their weeknesses are their alloy block (for strength) and their conrods and an obvious with all factory turbo motors... a nice set of forgies wouldn't go astray.

In summary....... personally I like both motors and if I had to build another motor (as I already have an FJ) I would probably try an SR.....however...we can compare a few situations and setups.... the 200SX Funny Car (Can't think of his name at the moment)... that opted for an FJ20 instead of the SR20 and runs 8's .... and the SR20 in that little white datto that does consistant 11's and ofcourse we can't forget GGHOST??.... depends what you're after at the end of the day and what you plan on doing with the car... oh yeah and did I mention how much money you have to spend???

Thought I'd add my 10 cents worth for anyone who cares  :)

Subject: FJ20 - max power

Hi list,

I was speaking to an engine builder last night (in Sydney) who is doing some head work for me, the guy is a guru with Nissan engines and love the FJ20, anyway, the conversation eventually got onto the inevitable question - "How much horsepower can we get..........."

The answer of course was " Are you planning on winning Lotto?" Of course I lied to him and told him I was! (Doesn't everyone plan for that day?)

I am now curios to find out what people are getting out of both the Turbo's and naturally aspirated FJ's and even SR's. Might be a good topic for discussion??

Anyone out there got any stories (preferably true) that they could share.

Mark.
