If you are considering doing this then I'd strongly recommend that if it is possible that you get the car inspected in NSW before you buy or make it a condition of sale. A mate of mine had more hassles than you could imagine re-regoing his own car (modified FC V8 Wagon) that is show quality and fully engineered (one of the most comprehensive reports i've ever seen) and regoed in his name in Vic. He got transferred in his job to the ACT - the items that the car didn't comply with here was astounding but they let him still drive it on a restricted permit as he engaged a local engineer who supplied a letter of intent to rectify which was the only decent part of his ordeal.
